When asked what animal Lucas would be and why, he replied “Probably a penguin, because I normally wear black and white, and when walking on ice I fall down a lot.”
It’s this mix of serious professionalism – think suit and tie, manners, the whole shebang – and goofy sarcastic sense of humor that make Lucas a delight at the front desk of the St. Cloud Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. With a long history working in customer service, his ultimate goal is to make sure visitors leave full of knowledge, happy, and hopefully with a smile.
Lucas grew up locally, born in St. Cloud and attending Sartell High School. He has held retail management positions at places like Tip Top Tux, and has also woo’d many a caffeine junkies at Caribou Coffee. In fact, when Lucas applied for the position of Information Specialist and Administrative Assistant at the CVB, many of our staff recognized him from behind the counter at Caribou – it’s safe to say he made an impression on us regulars, and has been a part of the team since July 24th, 2017.
In his position at the welcome desk at the CVB, Lucas is responsible for keeping the office in running order and making visitors feel welcome and prepared to explore the Greater St. Cloud area. He helps plan group tours, offers suggestions to visitors on where to go and what to see in the area, processes visitor guide requests, manages our retail store inventory and ordering, and most importantly, makes sure everyone in the office has enough pens.
When he’s not the cheerful face of Visit Greater St. Cloud, Lucas can be found at the theater. Lucas is not only a part-time bartender at the Paramount Theater, but also is on stage for many shows as a dancer. And when Lucas finds a spare second in his day, he spends it with Mr. Pibb, his bowtie-wearing, tongue-lagging, Tri County Humane Society rescue Schnauzer/Yorkie mix. Oh, and if it wasn’t obvious before, Lucas’s favorite food is: coffee. We can all relate, right?
Lucas is excited to be a part of the CVB team because he loves getting to know people who have a passion for what they do and where they work. In fact, his motto is, “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better – it’s not.” And with a motto like that, you know you’ll get the best experience out of Greater St. Cloud thanks to help from Lucas.
